I worked as a CG Generalist at Moth Studio on a TV commercial for TrueCar, creating 3D elements designed to integrate seamlessly with the film’s highly illustrative 2D visual style.

I built and animated the 3D car asset, while also breaking down the supplied 2D illustrations into layered environments that could be reconstructed and explored in 3D. This allowed us to create several shots of the car travelling through different illustrated worlds while introducing dimensional camera movement and depth.

A key challenge was making the 3D feel convincingly 2D, carefully matching the original artwork through simplified geometry, shading, lighting and compositing so the CG car and environments felt like a natural extension of the illustrations rather than traditional 3D animation.
